Mandanbitti is the highest point in the area and offers an amphi theatre
view of the great Himalayan ranges. Some years back it was part
of the Varuna yatra (a local circular pilgrim route). With
changing times it fell out of the circle, making Varuna yatra
possible in one day.
Day 00: Delhi to Haridwar
Board the overnight Mussorrie Express leaving Delhi at 10:45pm.
Day 01: Arrive Kuflon (1550m)
Board the waiting vehicles at the Haridwar railway station and
drive 6 hrs to reach Kuflon for lunch. Camp briefing, and check
in tents. A familiarization walk (1 hr) after tea. Campfire
followed with dinner. Overnight in Kuflon.
Day 02: Kuflon to base camp (2100m)
Post breakfast depart for the trek with packed lunch. The trek
is a 2-3 hrs ascent to a highland meadow at the base of Mount
Mandanbitti, to approximately 8000 ft. The campsite offers a
360-degree view of the surrounding region, also perfect for
night sky viewing. Overnight in tents.
Day 03: Ascent to Mandanbitti top (3200m)
Leave early for the high point with packed energy bars and
lunchto make in time to view the the snow peaks bathed in the
rising sun. Return to base camp for the evening. Relax and share
the day’s experience. Overnight in tents.
Day 04: Mandanbitti base to Kuflon
After breakfast return to kuflon for lunch. Refresh yourself wit
a hot bath or take a dip in the nearby natural pool. Overnight
in Kuflon basics.
Day 04: Kuflon to Delhi
After breakfast, drive 6 hrs to Haridwar to board the evening
Shatabdi to reach Delhi by 10:45pm.
